April 2010:
Civolution and Gracenote expand their relationship and launch the next-generation content identification and monetization platform: MEDIAHEDGE.
July 2009:
Civolution assumed full ownership of the Thomson STS watermarking business based in Rennes, France.
October 2008:
Completion of the spin-off from Philips Corporate Technologies into Prime Technology Venture as Civolution B.V. Civolution has an extensive product portfolio of world-class watermarking and fingerprinting solutions. Civolution is an independent and trusted supplier that can help the entertainment industry maintain control of its valuable copyrighted assets.
September 2008:
Civolution assumed full ownership of former joint venture Teletrax, the world’s first global broadcast intelligence company.
April 2006:
Announced VTrack watermarking solution for additional protection of high-value content in PayTV applications, such as high definition and early release content. VTrack is designed for set-top box integration, which is supported by major chipset vendors including Broadcom, ST and Texas Instruments.
2005: Philips Content Identification introduced CineFence, a forensic marking solution for digital cinemas, fully complying with the DCI specifications.
2003:
Philips Content Identification watermarking technology was successfully used for identifying the source of illegal copies of the 2003 Academy Award screeners, and implemented by the major Hollywood Studios to protect their valuable dailies, pre-release material and theatrical releases.
2002:
A dedicated line of business called Philips Content Identification was formed to support its customers in the domains of monitoring and forensic tracking applications using Philips audio and video watermarking technology, and the then newly developed audio fingerprinting technology.
2000:
First commercialization activities.
1996:
After several years of research and development on the technology, the first watermarking activities that would be the basis for Civolution started within the Philips Research labs.
