Video Fingerprinting
Civolution’s Internet Services uses state of the art fingerprinting technology to automatically identify multimedia content, in a simple, accurate and efficient way. This is achieved by a two-step approach.

First, unique features (fingerprints) are extracted from a set of original multimedia content and stored in a database. Second, unknown multimedia can be identified by extracting its fingerprint and comparing this to the fingerprints in the database (matching).

Civolution’s fingerprinting technology requires neither modification of the content, in order to identify the neither content, nor extra information in the header. The robust fingerprint extraction method is capable of dealing with severe content degradation, yet maintaining high accuracy.

In addition, video features are generated of the media content. Video features are compact descriptions of the video characteristics, which can be used to re-fingerprint the media assets without the need for accessing the original content. Using video features, Civolution only needs to access the media assets once, even when there is an update of the fingerprint algorithm.

Web crawling and monitoring:
Web crawling and monitoring is based on a multi-stage search and verification method. The search is based on specific set of key words and the verification on capture and fingerprint matching.
Using a sports event as an example, searches will be generated based on a combination of generic and match-specific terms, and adjusted automatically on a continual basis, with the specific aim of ‘over sampling’ to ensure maximum relevant matching videos. The metadata from each video returned in a search result will then be passed forward for video capture and fingerprint matching.

The schedule of what searches are run on which sites is pre-determined through a set of complex algorithms assuring the optimal and shortest search cycle.

Civolution offers such services as:
- Monitoring only (no action)
   • Gather information about where and how content is published on the internet.

- Take down function
   • Automatic removal of media content from a website via direct access to the content management system (CMS), during or after upload.

- Send take down notice
   • In the event of positive identification post-upload, a take-down notice is issued and sent to the internet sites hosting specific media.

- Ad-linking
   • Upon download and recognition of media content, specific messages or ads can be linked or added to media content or site.
